Brian Voit scored his third goal of the game with less than four minutes remaining to tie the game and Mike Glick scored the game winner just over a minute later as Gloucester County rallied to defeat Rutgers 6-4. George Bailey paced the Rutgers attack with a goal and two assists in a game played at Hollydell on Sunday night. Rutgers took the early lead as Bailey converted a pass from behind the net from Darren Audino twelve seconds into the game that turned out to be the only goal of the period.
Gloucester County had some early chances but Rutgers goalie Bill Douglas kept them off the scoreboard. With Rutgers men short, Voit tied the game early in the second period at 1-1. The tie lasted less than a minute as with both teams skating a man short, Rutgers scored two goals in a span of nineteen seconds. First Dan Rosenberg and then Audino both set up by Bailey as Rutgers took advantage of the open ice and utilized their speed to take a 3-1 lead. Voit cut the lead to 3-2 with a goal late in the second but Rutgers maintained their lead until the seven- minute mark of the third.
That's when Jake Spellman, after a mad scramble in front of Douglas, tied the game at 4-4. But Rutgers responded forty seconds later as Anthony Mannello scored and Rutgers led once again 4-3. That would last until the heroics provided by Voit and Glick. Spellman added an empty net goal tin the final seconds to close out the scoring at 6-4.
