Dix Hills Rebels vs. Glaciers

The inaugural Squirt President's Day Tournament scheduled the Dix Hills Rebels against the Glaciers. The Rebels defeated the Glaciers 4-2 to take the Squirt (B) Championship.

The Dix Hills Rebels powered their way to the championship game. In the first round, the Rebels defeated the Jaguars 7-0. The Rebels continued their shutout ways with an 11-0 defeat of the Medford Select team in Game 1 of the second round. In Game 2 of the second round, the Rebels put up their third shutout of the tournament with a 2-0 win over the Glaciers.

To get to the title game, the Glaciers defeated the Medford Select team 7-1 in round one. In Game 1 of the second round, the Glaciers shut out the Jaguars 2-0. Game 2 of the second round was a 2-0 loss for the Glaciers to the Dix Hills Rebels.

The championship game for the Squirt (B) was a rematch of second round opponents. The Dix Hills Rebels started off the scoring at 8:37 of the first period. Defenseman Nicholas Nappi scored with assists going to forward Andrew Miller and defenseman Ryan Euell. Shots on goal for the period were 8 for the Rebels and 4 for the Glaciers.

Second period scoring was all for the Rebels. They padded their lead with 3 more scores. Defenseman Ryan Euell scored at 10:47, with assists going to Nicholas Nappi and Ryan Peterson. The Rebels went up 3-0 when forward Thomas Svendsen scored at the 4:32 mark. Euell picked up his second assist of the game. With just 24 seconds remaining in the second period, Andrew Miller scored to push the lead to 4-0. Defenseman Michael Rossi and forward Sean Hladky picked up assists on the goal. Shots on goal for the period were 10 for Rebels and 12 for the Glaciers.

The third period saw the Glaciers mount a come back late in the period. With 1:34 remaining in the game, Glaciers forward Michael Jordan picked up his teams' first goal. Assists on the play went to forward Tyler Blum and defenseman Jason Caplin. The Glaciers scored again with 31 seconds remaining. Forward Drew Nowicki scored and was assisted by forwards Ryan Stern and Devin Pellicone.

With the game ending, the Dix Hills Rebels had a 4-2 win and the President's Day Tournament Squirt (B) Championship. Shots on goal for the period were 8 for the Rebels (26 for the game) and 17 for the Glaciers (33 for the game).
