High School Ice Hockey:
First Annual Hockey Awards Presented by SJSports Online

In recognition of the hard work and dedication of numerous young athletes in the SJHSIHL, we at South Jersey Sports Online decided to recognize the efforts of the players and coaches in the following categories:

• Player of the Year- Tier 1
• Player of the Year- Tier 2
• Player of the Year - JVA
• Player of the Year - JVB
• Best Defenseman - Varsity
• Coach of the Year - All Levels

The awards will be based on regular season only, as the league awards championship trophies as well as a MVP trophy for playoff performance. Typically, a player of the year would not only contribute offensively but defensively and would lead by example. The selection of the players and the coach of the year will be exclusively done by the staff at South Jersey Sports Online. The winners will be announced during the playoffs.

With the season winding down, it's been a pretty exciting season. We had two undefeated teams up until last week. There was a goal scored in a varsity game by a female and, if history tells us anything, the varsity team that has won the division has also been the champions since the inception of the league in the early 1990's. Could this be the year that statistic changes? Can Eastern three-peat? Will Township or Clearview bring home the gold? Or will we have a sleeper like Collingswood or Shawnee? Stay tuned...
