Thursday, April 12, 2001
Press Release
Bala Cynwyd, Pa - April 12, 2001 - Community Sports Partners is pleased to announce the groundbreaking of its newest skating facility located in Mount Laurel, New Jersey. The new facility will feature two National Hockey League sized ice skating rinks connected by an atrium of common space and locker rooms. The facilities' atrium will include a snack shop, a professional shop, support facilities, and several small, multipurpose rooms for community activities including birthday parties, instructional classes, and club and team meetings.
Mount Laurel is a prime location for a new skating facility as demand for ice time far exceeds supply. New rinks are opening at a rate of about 8% a year and the participation rates of youth hockey, figure skating and recreational skating is growing at nearly twice that rate.
The new facility will be built and owned by Community Sports Partners located in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania. The company's principal partners, Sam Katz and Mark Robins both have extensive experience in the development and management of a wide range of public sporting complexes and private development projects.
"The Mount Laurel Skating facility will provide area ice skaters with a state of the art facility that combines a modern, aesthetically pleasing facility with top quality skating programs", said Mark Robins. "The management, staff and coaches will strive for exceptional customer service programs and a competitive youth hockey league, as well as learn to skate and learn to play hockey programs".
"It is our intention to develop a community center that will foster athletic growth to area youth while offering a place to meet new friends and strengthen community pride. The hockey, ice-skating and learn to skate programs will teach the values and skills attained from team sports programs for area children, teens and adults", added Mark.
The Mount Laurel Skating Facility will be located between State Highway 38 and Interstate 295 on the East Side of Masonville-Fostertown Road. This centralized location provides strong local and regional access for travel teams, tournaments and in-house hockey leagues.
Groundbreaking is set for April 10th with the expected opening to occur in Late September 2001. Teams, players and coaches who are interested in booking ice time should call Laura Blaney at 215-918-2090 or email at Blan673@aol.com.
Community Sports partners is engaged in developing similar projects in Lower Salford and Lower Providence, Montgomery County; Brick Township, Ocean County, NJ; and Burlington Island in the Delaware River, Burlington County, NJ.
Community Sports Partners President, Sam Katz, was responsible for the financing of Oriole Park at Camden yards in Maryland, the first Union center in Philadelphia, the Rose garden Arena in Portland, the Kiel center in St. Louis and Jacobs Field in Cleveland.
The Mount Laurel facility will have a positive impact on the local community by providing recreational opportunities for its residents. Neighbors and communities can come together to learn, work and socialize while joining together in organized and recreational ice skating programs.
