South Jersey Ice Hockey: Boardwalk Bullies Offer Tryout to Local Talent Linwood Resident Will Join the Bullies in Training Camp Beginning Sunday Tuesday, September 24, 2002 By Mary Rose Faustman ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - The Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies of the East Coast Hockey League offered a training camp tryout to forward Alex Guerrina, it was announced today by Bullies Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Mike Haviland. The 6-0, 200-pound winger from Linwood, N.J., last played with the Atlantic City Vikings, a high school club team in the area. Last season, the Vikings won the "B" Division in the CanAm Games in Montreal, Quebec. "This is out of this world," remarked Guerrina regarding his invite to training camp. "My goal has always been to play pro hockey, but I never fully expected to be given the opportunity to try out. "I've been skating with some of the players as Flyers SkateZone, and I feel like I can keep up with them. I'm excited for camp to start and am looking forward to showing how I'm capable of playing." Haviland, who attended a skate at SkateZone, was pleased with what he saw in Guerrina's abilities. "Alex is a solid two-way player who will fit well in the Bullies' system," commented Haviland. "We're excited to have a local guy join our camp and have a legitimate shot at making the team." The 2002 Kelly Cup Playoffs Northeast Division Champion Boardwalk Bullies play at Boardwalk Hall.
