Millville Bolts Past Winslow 2-1

The Millville Thunderbolts bolted past the Winslow Township Eagles by the score of 2-1. The Thunderbolts, seeded sixth (10-8-3) traveled to Winslow, seeded third (9-4-5) in the first round of the South Jersey Group 4 Field Hockey tournament. With the construction going on at Winslow, the Field Hockey field was moved to where the girl's soccer team plays. The field here was in better condition then the other field at the middle school.
The first goal of the game was scored by Rachel Barber, in the first half. This gave the Thunderbolts a 1-0 lead at halftime. Danielle Cheli scored the second goal in the second half to give the Thunderbolts a 2-0 lead. The Eagles did not give up as the put 13 shots on Lauren Sartorio. Sartorio stopped 12 of the 13 shots. The Eagles did score in the final minutes. Dominique Merchant scored for the Eagles. The game ended with the score 2-1 in favor of the Thunderbolts. The Thunderbolts will have to travel again as the will play the number 2 seeded Southern Regional High School in the second round.
