Justin Osterdahl had a natural hat trick as Williamstown defeated Cherry Hill East 5-2 at Hollydell on Friday night. Osterdahl scored the only goal of the first period as Eric Finn hit him in stride streaking down the left side and Osterdahl went short-side for his first of three. Williamstown struck, capitalizing on the power play, as Osterdahl skated right up the slot and his blast made it 2-0. Forty seconds later, Osterdahl made it three in a row on a nice give and go play with Andrew Carusone. East showing some speed, but a young team as only twenty percent of the roster are seniors, finally responded as Evan Ascroff’s shot from the point beat Josh Haines, as he never saw the puck. Williamstown responded as defenseman Josh Haynes responded with a shot top shelf and the lead was 4-1.
Late in the period East was on the power play with a chance to get within two, but Dennis Cunnard found Jim Roescher all alone in front and Williamstown scored short-handed to make it 5-1 heading into the final period. Jared Annarelli scored the lone goal of the period for East and Williamstown improved to 2-0.
