Every team has leaders that other players look to when the time comes for that big score is needed to pull out the win against their opponent. On the Lady Eagles field hockey team from West Deptford, Brittany Gibbs, Courtney Stetson and Katie Cipriani have been those players able to find the cage for their team. During their Colonial Conference Liberty Division match-up against Haddonfield, it was bound to be a very close game between two successful programs. With the game tied at one, Gibbs came up big for West Deptford when her shot enter the cage. The Eagles would hold onto to that one goal advantage to pick up the win.
Haddonfield had several leaders that have kept their team among the leaders of the Liberty Division. Meredith Sabatini and Steph Carroll have had their share of goals recorded and they would need to continue their success in today’s game. Collingswood and West Deptford have been the favorites so far this season, but don’t tell that to the Lady Dawgs. Haddonfield’s only loss this early season was from the Lady Panthers from Collingswood, but they were looking to keep up their winning ways.
These two teams played evenly for the entire game, but it would come down to one of the leaders to come up big when it counted. With the score tied at one apiece thanks to goals from Haddonfield’s Meredith Sabatini and West Deptford’s Courtney Stetson, the Eagles would respond with the go ahead and eventually the game winning when Gibbs scored with just over 13 minutes remaining in the game. The victory kept West Deptford close to Collingswood in the standings.
