On a cold and rainy Friday evening, the Lindenwold Lions visited the West Deptford Eagles. The slick muddy field took away the Lions' speed, and West Deptford's relentless offense pulled the game away in the second half, shutting out the Lions 23-0.
Neither team was able to get much going in the first half. The only scoring came in the second quarter when Jake Brownell nailed a 38-yard field goal with 3:38 left in the half.
It wasn't until 1:50 left in the third quarter that West Deptford scored the first touchdown of the game, a 2 yard run by Tom Walls at the end of a 63 yard drive. Walls would score two more times in the fourth, a 52 yard run at 8:43 and a 21 yard run at 1:43. Brownell's two PATs were exclamation points for the Eagles' scoring.
The West Deptford defense wore out the Lions over the length of the game, keeping them off the scoreboard and not allowing Lindenwold into West Deptford territory all of the second half. The win keeps the Eagles undefeated at 5-0. Lindenwold falls to 3-2.
