McElhone And Headrick Pace Rancocas Valley

Ron McElhone scored four goals and Christian Headrick three to lead Rancocas Valley over West Deptford 10-2 in SJHSIHL action played at Hollydell on Friday evening. McElhone opened the scoring in the first minute of the game with the assist to Andrew Dudley and a 1-0 lead. About four minutes later Headrick made it 2-0 on a feed from Dan Hennessy. However, fourteen seconds later at the beginning of a power-play John Way cut the lead in half at 2-1.

The turning point came with two minutes left in the period and West Deptford had a game tying goal disallowed. On the ensuing face-off Headrick skated in all alone and instead of heading into the second period tied, West Deptford was down 3-1. The only two goals scored in the second period were by McElhone, forty-six seconds apart, and the lead was 5-1 going into the last period. Matt Moore scored on the power play for West Deptford to cut the lead to 5-2, but Gary Richardson would score a power play goal for Rancocas Valley less than two minutes later with Nick Sharp assisting and the lead was once again four at 6-2.

Sharp and Kyle Tuliano would score within a span of fifty seconds and the lead grew to 8-2. McElhone and Headrick closed out the scoring, with McElhone scoring on the power play and Headrick tallying in the last thirty seconds to make the final 10-2.
