Eastern's field hockey team doesn't take any team lightly. Knowing that any team can beat another team on any given day, it is important to play at the highest level each and every time they take the field. This time traveling to Washington Township to take on the Minutemaids in an Olympic Conference competition, Eastern used their speed and stick handling abilities and created several scoring chances early and led by three goals at halftime. The Vikings continued their fast and aggressive play all during the second half and were able to record a 10-1 victory. Jessica Allen, Kelsey Mitchell and Meghan Dawson each scored three goals apiece for Eastern.
Washington Township’ goalie Kirsten Shea would come up with some big saves throughout the first half of this game, but Eastern put themselves into position to create scoring chances. Allen would finally get the game’s first goal at the 21:41 mark. Just under two minutes later, Allen was right back in front of the net scoring her second goal of the first half. After Kelsey Mitchel and Meghan Dawson’s goal gave Eastern a 4-0 lead, the Minutemaids were able to put some offensive pressure on the Vikings and Lauren Summers’ quick shot went into the cage. But from that point on, it was Eastern who would dominate this game. West Deptford’s Meghan Rieger had 13 saves in this game while Puggi had 12 saves.
