Washington Township scored three goals in the first six minutes of the game as they defeated Eastern 8-4 at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Needing more players to step up and fill in until the return of seniors Cameron Rowand and David Moore, Township had six different player score goals, led by freshman Jared Emmet with a hat trick. Township converted on the power play as Emmet had an empty net after a perfect cross-ice pass from Colin Davis had drew over the goaltender. Marc Remini and Christian Fleagle added goals forty one seconds apart and suddenly it was 3-0. Eastern got on the board as Jon Hayes banked the puck off the skate of Township goalie Chris Rainey to cut the lead to 3-1, but a late goal by Jonathon Paulo restored the three goal lead at 4-1.
The second period was pretty even as both teams scored twice, Emmet and Davis for Township and Dan Drazen and Jon Adamson for Eastern. Township got two goals twenty five seconds apart late in the third, Emmet to complete his hat trick and Jim Tumolo, capping off his best game of the season with three points, to put Township up 8-3. Drazen added his second of the game in the final moments. Township finished the season in second place after leading the division for most of the season.
Notes: Looks like David Moore will miss the playoffs for Township after suffering a knee injury against Rancocas Valley. Unfortunate news for the senior, but the good news was he will not need surgery. Township will sorely miss his physical presence, especially as they move on in the tournament. Better news is that Cameron Rowand could return from his shoulder injury, one of the leading scorers before he got hurt, Rowand will be an asset to the Township offense.
