Three players had hat tricks as Washington Township defeated Cinnaminson 12-3 in Tier 1 action at Hollydell on Friday night. Bryan Paulson, Fred Brewer and Chris Keyser each netted three goals, Billy Choy added a goal and five assists as Township scored early and often to take control of the game and never look back. Township led 4-0 with the game barely five minutes old and kept the pressure on until the final buzzer. Paulson started the barrage as he put home a rebound of a shot by Matthew Grossi. Thirty seconds later Keyser was sent in on a breakaway by David Henninger and his quick shot made it 2-0.
Choy set-up Brewer for the third goal as he fed him the puck from the point and his backhander found the net and Township led 3-0. T.J. Dispaldo, an underclassman playing due to several suspensions following the Clearview game, sent in Dave Moore with just under five minutes played and his shot found the back of the net and Township was in control at 4-0. Donald Odgers put Cinnaminson on the board as he scored a breakaway goal midway through the period. Brewer got that one back as Choy, setting up camp in the corner, had time to find Brewer along the side of the net and he just re-directed the puck for a 5-1 lead.
The second period was just like the first, with Township scoring goals in bunches but the only difference was they scored them late instead of early, four in a span of three minutes with Keyser, Brewer, Choy and Paulson doing the honors. Mike Gideon and Anthony Casale added goals for Cinnaminson. With the win, Township kept alive its slim hope of finishing first. Those hopes should be dashed as Eastern plays Cherry Hill West on Monday and with the win will clinch first place.
