Jason Pelle scored four goals to lead Washington Township's Tier 2 team to a 9-5 victory over the West Deptford Eagles in a battle for first place on Friday night at Hollydell. With the win Township increased their lead to three points over the Eagles in a battle for supremacy in Tier 2. Pelle scored just over one minute into the game on a nice feed from Chris Keyser, who hit Pelle in the slot, and his one-timer made it 1-0. West Deptford responded scoring the next three goals as Doug Dehart, Brad Clifford and a late breakaway goal by Brandon Jackmuff and led 3-1 after one period.
Early in the second period Deptford had a chance to build on its lead on the power play, but Township scored a short-handed goal. Ryan Jagielski lifted the puck over the goalie to cut the deficit to 3-2. Just under two minutes later Mike Duczkowski tied the score at 3-3 scoring from the side of the net on a nice pass from Mike Siciliano. Pelle was sprung on a breakaway with just over three minutes remaining as Carl Orth put the pass right on the tape and Pelle's goal gave Township the lead for good at 4-3. Townships' Chris Lyon had a highlight goal as he broke in all alone, tripped at the circle and laying prone across the ice chipped the puck over the goalie to put Township up 5-3. Pelle added two more in the third period and Duczkowski added another. I don't know what Jason ate on Friday, but whatever it was he should continue eating it until the playoffs are finished.
