With just over two weeks remaining in the field hockey season, every game is crucial in establishing a position in the upcoming playoffs. In today's contest between the Hammonton Lady Blue Devils traveling to Triton High School to take on the Mustangs was a non-league game. Hammonton would take advantage of the opportunities the Triton defense gave them to win this game by the score of 5-0. Allison Greene scored two goals to lead Hammonton.
Hammonton (9-2-0, 4-1-0) was having a successful season this year, as they were only one game behind Ocean City in the Cape-Atlantic American Division II Conference. The Blue Devils only divisional loss was to Ocean City by a 5-0 margin. For the Lady Mustangs, they were sitting firmly in third place behind the Camden Catholic and Bishop Eustace in the Olympic Conference National Division.
Triton started this game trying to gain the early edge by pressuring the Hammonton defense. But the Blue Devils would respond catching the Triton (7-5-1, 5-3-0) defense off guard. Hammonton would get two first half goals and then three more scores in the second half to shut out Triton. Allison Greene along with her sister Bridget would account for 3 of the goals scored by Hammonton. Brianna Fonte and Alycia Gotthold accounted for the remaining goals scored.
