Triton scored three goals in a span of thirty-six seconds late in the first period and went on to defeat Sterling 6-3 in Tier 2 action played at Hollydell on Friday night. Buddy Flick, Eric Furini, and Brandon Warming each scored as Triton controlled play and out shot Sterling 10-2 in the first period. After a scoreless second period, Sterling got on the board early in the third as Bill Hunter converted a pass from Jim Mohan and Steve Marshall to make it 3-1. Just thirteen seconds later Triton's John Caramanna broke in and his goal restored the three goal lead at 4-1.
Triton seemed to feed off the energy from the partisan crowd and never lost its focus on playing solid defense limiting Sterling's best player Steve Marshall to minimal scoring chances. After Brian Davis gave Triton a 5-1 lead midway through the final period, Ken Ryker converted a pass from Mohan and his goal brought Sterling to 5-2. Moments later Joe Bangs set up Wilson and his goal gave Triton a 6-2 lead. Mohan scored a late power play goal but Sterling could get no closer than 6-3.
