In front of rather large and boisterous crowd at Flyers Skate Zone in Voorhees the Triton Mustangs toppled Neumann from the ranks of the undefeated with a 6-3 victory. Mustangs' Mike Wilson scored a hat trick, his first as a varsity player. Triton goaltender Joe Roccia was sensational in the pipes as he turned aside 30 shots and kept the normally potent Neumann attack at bay.
Bud Flick got Triton going offensively, scoring a power play goal with 3 minutes left in the opening period. Mike Wilson, called up from JV for the game, gave Triton a little breathing room with 37 seconds left in the first period.
The second period was all Triton as they exploited the smaller Neumann defensive corps and used side to side passing to score 3 unanswered goals (Wilson again, Caramanna and Carfagno). The Mustangs out shot Neumann 21 to 6, and took a 5 to 1 lead into the third period. Neumann made it a game on goals by Gagliardi and Marker late in the third stanza, but Joe Bangs fed a pass to Mike Wilson, who sailed an empty netter in to seal the 6 to 3 win.
