Somerdale resident Mike Moroni plays forward for the Triton Mustangs ice hockey team. Mike has played all of his four years at Triton and with graduation looming, he plans to continue his education at a tech school. He hopes to continue playing after high school and credits the influence and support of his dad and brother Nick for helping him to persevere with practice and game time. Mike spends his down time away from the ice by working on his car and singing with a band. Car racing is also one of his favorites.
As his favorite all time players in ice hockey, Mike looks to Scott Stevens, defenseman for the Jersey Devils. For Mike , Scott Stevens can read the game terrific and his aggressive skating style is one that Mike works toward for himself while playing hockey. Playing ice hockey has helped Mike to appreciate the discipline of practice and most importantly the role of mutual respect among members of a team.
As the ice hockey season winds down for the high school leagues, like most of the seniors moving on, Mike holds dear the experiences he has shared with his team-mates.
