The Triton Mustangs defeated Holy Cross 3-0 and captured the JVB championship in the SJHSIHL in front of a packed house at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Zach Booth scored two goals and Steve Zimmerman added a late third period goal to pace the attack for the Mustangs. Mike Sullivan and Vince Gutierrez led the smothering defense played by Triton as they limited Holy Cross to ten shots on goal for the game.
The first period was typical playoff hockey, tight checking, few shots and solid defense and no goals. Early in the second period Sullivan sent Booth in on a breakaway and he went to his backhand and went top shelf to give Triton a 1-0 lead. Midway through the third period again Booth broke in and again cashed in to give Triton a 2-0 lead. The closest Holy Cross came to scoring was late in the period when Ryan Potosky hit the post. Congratulations to Coach Fiorini and his staff.
