Joe Piarulli scored with just over a minute left in the game as Cherry Hill West defeated Timber Creek 3-2 in action played at Hollydell. Gary Scott scored both goals for Timber Creek and Justin Hoch scored twice for West. Cherry Hill took an early 1-0 lead on the power play as Hoch went through the defense and ripped a shot into the net. Scott however tied the game scoring on a breakaway midway through the period.
West took the lead as Hoch stole the puck at center ice and broke in all alone and his wrist shot found the back of the net and West led 2-1 heading into the second period. Scott tied the score at 2-2 with just over three minutes left in the period as his shot form the right circle beat Andrew Silcox, who had a strong game for West. Timber Creek controlled most of the play in the third period and it looked as if they were going to get their first win of the season, but Silcox made several big saves robbing Ryan Johnson from in close and kept his team tied until Piarullis’ late game heroics.
Notes: Timber Creek has played all season without last years leading scorer, Lanny Fredericks, a player they have sorely missed. But with the return to normalcy next year concerning the schedule and key players like Gary Scott and Danny Cavallaro, the future looks bright.
