Gary Scott and Lanny Frederick netted hat tricks as Timber Creek defeated Cinnaminson 9-7 at Hollydell on Friday night. After joining the league last year and playing all of its games at Tier 2, Timber Creek entered the season finding themselves moving up to Tier 1 and opening against a very well coached and disciplined team in Cinnaminson. Returning several key players from last year, Frederick, Ray Zola and Matt Carpenter, Timber Creek will score some goals, and will win some high scoring contests. Carpenter opened the scoring; depositing home a rebound after Zola was stopped on a breakaway. Cinnaminson tied the game at 1-1, with the first of its four power play goals as Longo, who led the Pirate attack with two goals, found the back of the net.
Cinnaminson would lead 3-2 after the first period, but goals by Scott, Frederick and Scott again in a span of three minutes, would put Timber Creek in charge. Zola and Frisch also scored for Timber Creek, and it could be an exciting year if this young team can continue their scoring pace.
