After having their last game called because of darkness, the Shawnee Renegades shut out the Winslow Eagles 3-0 to advance to the next round of the South Jersey Group 4 Boys Soccer Tournament. The Renegades, already awarded the Olympic Conference American Division Champions, will now wait to host the winner of the Absegami-Eastern game on Tuesday.
In a physically played game, the Renegades scored with 4:42 left in the first half to take a 1-0 lead. Stephen King scored his first of three of the game from a shot from the left of the box that got past Winslow’s keeper Mike Itri. Itri tried his best to keep Winslow in the game with a total of 13 saves.
In the second half, Shawnee’s keeper Brad Hess, shut out and 3 saves, made his best save diving to his right off of a shot by Winslow’s Simmons. This was a big save because it kept the score 1-0. The Renegades kept the pressure on the rest of the half as King scored the last two goals with 9:05 left and then with 7:15 for the hat trick and a 3-0 win.
