At the beginning of a season, there are some players who try to analyze which teams on their schedule looked like easy or difficult team to pick up the win. Most of the teams that have been put into either of those categories are a reflection on the number of times they compete each season. So when there's a team matched up in a non-league game, the best way to find out who will win is to play the scheduled seven innings of softball. Shawnee were playing host to the Lady Rams from Gloucester Catholic and they were not hospitable host. The Renegades continued to keep pace with the division leaders by recording a 4-0 decision.
It has been over two years since these two teams met on a softball field. During that game, Gloucester Catholic came away with a 10-2 victory at Shawnee. The Lady Rams have had a lot to prove again this season as they were the defending South Jersey Parochial B champs. This year Shawnee has their sights set on making it further into the post season and possibly a state title.
The Renegades have been performing well with Allison Jordan and Shannon Gillardon on the mound. Today, Gillardon got the start for Shawnee and had to be happy to see her team jump out to an early first inning lead. From that point on, Shawnee’s defense came up with the plays needed to keep Gloucester Catholic off the scoreboard. With the win, Shawnee keeps pace with Cherokee and Washington Township in the Olympic Conference American Division.
