By Gary Finigan In Flyers Cup AA action, the Shawnee Renegades faced off against the Cheltenham Panthers at the Face Off Circle in Warminster, PA. The Panthers defeated the Renegades 9-4 to advance to the second round. Cheltenham's Bob Swift led all scorers, picking up 4 goals for the game. Early in the first period, Cheltenham jumped out to a 2-0 lead. Bob Swift scored the first of his four goals to give Cheltenham a 1-0 lead. Matt Connelly scored for the Panthers for the 2-0 lead. Shawnee got on the board with a Chris Nase goal, cutting the Cheltenham advantage to 2-1. The Renegades tied the score at 2-2 on a Dan Rybeck goal. Cheltenham took the lead for good when Dan Katz lit the lamp. Bob Swift closed out the scoring for the period, giving the Panthers a 4-2 lead at the end of one. Second period action saw Cheltenham continue with the offensive pressure, picking up 4 more goals. Bob Swift picked up two more goals, with Scott Taxin and Drew Kaufman each picking up a goal. Shawnee was unable to get the offense in gear and the Panthers took a 8-2 lead into the third period. In the third period, the Renegades offense scored a pair of goals to cut the Cheltenham lead to 8-4. Chris Jennings and Kevin Eppolite were the goal scorers for Shawnee.
