High School Ice Hockey: Brown Scores Four to Lead Rancocas Valley Wednesday, February 16, 2005 By Mike Costantino SJSports Staff Writer Rob Brown scored four goals and Aaron Smith added two goals and two assists to pace Rancocas Valley over West Deptford 7-0 in second round playoff action at Hollydell. Brown, who also quarterbacks the football team, gave Rancocas a 1-0 lead three minutes into the game, scoring on a breakaway. West Deptford had a golden opportunity to climb back into the game late in the period as they had a four-minute power play that carried over into the second period. Unfortunately they not only did not capitalize, but Brown, stole the puck and scored a short-handed goal to make it 2-0 early in the second period. Corey Jackmuff had the best opportunity for West Deptford, with a breakaway chance at the midway point of the period, but Kevin Kraft stoned him to keep it at 2-0. Moments later Brown burst down the left side and his slap shot found the net for a 3-0 lead after two periods. Smith and Brown scored goals one minute apart in the early going to break open the game at 5-0. Kraft, facing only nineteen shots, stoned Jackmuff again in the third period and goals by Smith and brother Ryan, late in the period moved Rancocas Valley into the next round against top seeded Moorestown.
