High School Ice Hockey: Wells And Jesz Shut Down Vineland Sunday, December 21, 2003 By Mike Costantino The Rancocas Valley Junior Varsity Ice Hockey team skated to a 5-1 victory Sunday evening over Vineland at Mt. Laurel. Jordan Mihalik started Rancocas Valley's scoring drive in the first period with a rocket slap shot from the point beating the Vineland goaltender. Sean Mellon converted in the second period while Vineland answered with a goal following a turn over in Rancocas Valley's zone. Rancocas Valley turned on the heat in the third period with Robert Brown, Joe Fleming and Theo Vanderwilt each putting the puck in Vineland's net during the last period of play. Chris Wells started in goal for RV stopping each shot Vineland put on the net during the first period and half of the second period while Ryan Jesz closed the door in net for RV during the second and third periods turning away all but one of Vineland's shots on goal. RV meets undefeated West Deptford at Hollydell on January 4th following the Holiday break. |
