Jeff Sporer had two goals, one assist, Jesse Deczynski scored twice, and Chelsea Ward stopped all seventeen shots as Rancocas Valley shutout Cherry Hill East 7-0 in Tier 1 action played in Voorhees. Ward also picked up her second assist of the season on Rancocas’ last goal. After Ward stopped Louis Stommel on a breakaway, Rancocas went on the power play and Sporer scored on a feed from Mark Wilson to make it 1-0. Playing a more supportive role on defense and limiting East to just seven shots and no rebounds, Rancocas doubled their lead late in the period as Rob Brown converted a rebound after Aaron Smith had created a scoring opportunity by beating the defense utilizing his speed.
Goals by Frank Luciano Jr. and Sporer put Rancocas up 4-0 and just as in the first period, East could only muster seven shots and no rebounds. The third period was very chippy and frustration was setting in, as East had seven of the ten penalties in the period. With so little time to spend on offense, they only had three shots on net. Rancocas got goals from Smith and two from Deczynski to win going away at 7-0. Rancocas Valley is now off until January 5th when they will meet Holy Cross.
