Dan Hennessy had a hat trick and Gary Miller chipped in with a goal and three assists as Rancocas Valley skated to a surprisingly easy 8-0 victory over West Deptford in a Tier 2 game played at Hollydell on Friday night. Rancocas took the lead in the first two minutes of the game, taking advantage of a man advantage as Miller fed Kyle Tuliano and his goal made it 1-0. Just about four minutes later Hennessy scored the first of his three to increase the lead to 2-0. West Deptford seemed to struggle most of the night as a more determined Rancocas squad consistently beat them to the puck.
Rancocas goalie Tom Gibson stopped all sixteen shots he faced and was rarely tested. With West Deptford missing a few key players they never could sustain any offensive pressure. Jeff Sporer closed out the scoring in the first period and Rancocas led 3-0. Goals by Chad Stevenson, and a power play and short-handed goal by Hennessy helped Rancocas double its lead to 6-0 after two periods. Ernie McElhone and Miller added the last two goals for Rancocas.
