Zack Booth scored three goals and Brett Balco added a goal and three assists as the Paul VI Eagles defeated the West Deptford Eagles 7-1 on Friday night at Hollydell. Booth scored the only goal of the first period four minutes into the game, and despite out-shooting West Deptford 14-4; Jacob DeHart was solid in nets for West Deptford. Paul VI kept the pressure on in the second period launching 20 shots and scoring three goals.
First, Mike McCoy from the top of the right circle beat DeHart to make it 2-0. Then moments later Balco found Booth for his second of the game and a 3-0 lead. Balco’s breakaway goal later in the period gave Paul VI a 4-0 lead heading into the third period. Having surrendered a three goal lead in this building last week, Paul VI seemed determined to finish strong. The lead grew to 5-0 early in the third period as Mark Forte made a nice play to keep the puck in the zone and found Taylor Facchinei and his shot beat DeHart. West Deptford finally scored with under nine minutes remaining as Joe Cavicchia ruined Eric Lake’s attempt at a shutout. Goals by Jared Brasten and Booth’ third goal of the game closed out the scoring.
