Rich Ferro scored a power play goal late in the third period to snap a 3-3 tie and propel Paul VI to a 5-3 win over Clearview. Bret Balco led the way with three goals and Clearview welcomed back Chris Riggs as he added a goal and an assist. After a scoreless opening period where the teams combined for seven penalties, Balco broke through for Paul VI at the four minute mark for a brief 1-0 lead. Seconds later Riggs tied the game on a pass from Jim Fritz. Clearview took the lead with Mike Sulllivan scoring on the power play. Zack Booth tied the score at 2-2 on a nice feed from Ferro.
Paul VI continued to apply the pressure but Bobby Kovarovic did not surrender any more goals and we headed into the third period deadlocked. With just over three minutes played Matt Gagne put Clearview ahead 3-2 but Balco responded on the power play three minutes later tying the score at 3-3. That set the stage for Ferro, who although has struggled at times finding the net has continued to work hard and is second on the team in assists. Balco added an empty net goal to seal the 5-3 victory.
