High School Soccer: Tuesday, September 28, 2004 By Stephanie Wright It's never easy starting out a season when most only give you a small chance of coming out on top of your division at the season's end. The Wildcats from St. Joseph have been selected as one of those talented teams that have a real good chance of winning the conference title. So when Our Lady of Mercy Academy was hosting the Wildcats, they knew they had to play above average especially with Tara Davies on the other team. Two players of their own have been scoring goals for Our Lady. Maria Grady and Jen Woldon both scored in this game while Meghan Zapeic earned her fourth shutout of the season. Our Lady went on the defeat St. Joseph 3-0. Our Lady has been scoring a lot of goals so far this season and was looking to continue to outscore their opponents. With their three goals today, Our Lady has outscored their opponents by a 28-6 margin. Two of those goals were scored by Grady, the first when Katelyn Hess’ assist gave them the 1-0 lead. Ashley Hemberger received the assist on the second goal and Our Lady led 2-0 at the break. With her second assist of the day, Hess set up Woldon for her seventh goal of the season and a 3-0 lead. Grady leads the team in goals scored with 10. Keeper Zapeic recorded 8 saves in the game. |
