High School Soccer: Friday, November 5, 2004 By Susan Hall The first round of the Parochial B South girl's soccer playoff game began for the Villagers from Our Lady of Mercy hosting Moorestown Friends. The Villagers were the third seeded team looking to advance to the next round by recording a victory over the sixth seeded Foxes. The reliable Maria Grady continued to lead her team in scoring and this game wasn't any different. Grady's first half goal was the eventual game winner as Our Lady advanced to the next round with their 2-0 decision over Moorestown Friends. Our Lady’s Jen Woldow and Grady worked together scoring the only goal in the first half. During the second half, Woldow was this time on the receiving end scoring a goal off of a corner kick. Caitlyn Hess assisted on Our Lady’s second goal of the game. From that point on, Megan Zapeic was able to secure the game in the net earning her ninth shutout of the season. Next up for Our Lady is a tough competition against the second seeded Lady Spartans from Holy Spirit, a team that has stopped them from advancing to the finals in the past two years. |
