High School Soccer: Wednesday, October 27, 2004 By Stephanie Wright Two days ago the Lady Villagers celebrated clinching the Cape-Atlantic Conference National Division II title when they defeated Bridgeton by a 4-2 score. In that game Maira Grady increased her season total goals scored by three to twenty-four. The goals did not come easy for the first place Villagers traveling to Lower Cape May to take on the Lady Capers. With all of the scoring occurring during the second half, both teams picked up their first tie of the second as neither team would in the double overtime sessions. The reliable Grady found a way to contribute to the first goal scored in this game. Receiving an assist from Lauren Schneider, Grady’s goal broke a scoreless tie in the second half. Lower Cape May would respond with a goal by Victoria Wermuth tying this inter-conference game. Neither team would be able to score through two overtime session. Our Lady fired 45 shots with 10 of those shots being saved by keeper Vanaman. Meghan Zapeic continues to be solid in the net for Our Lady. |
