It was down to just four teams remaining and all were looking to advance to the South Jersey Group III field hockey finals. Ocean City, Kingsway, Cumberland and Hammonton all were competing today to advance to the finals. In Ocean City, the number one seeded Red Raiders were hosting fifth seeded Hammonton to earn a chance at the title against second seeded Kingsway who defeated third seeded Cumberland. Ocean City would get three goals from three different players and goal keeper Devon Seifert would earn the shutout for the Red Raiders.
Ocean City has had yet another impressive season. Their 19-1-1 record includes 19 shutout performances with Seifert in goal. Their only loss was to the Renegades from Shawnee and they ended up in a 2-2 tie with Egg Harbor Township. Hammonton, who finished as the Cape-Atlantic League National Conference Division champs ended their season with a 13-4-3 record. For the Cape-Atlantic League American Conference Division II title winners, Ocean City went right to work scoring two goals in the first half of this game. Justine Kleeman scored the first goal who was assisted by Melissa Hunter and Kimmie Krzyk would score the second goal and Ocean City would lead at the break. A goal by Hunter during the second half would round out the scoring for Ocean City.
