The opening round of the South Jersey Coaches Tournament began for the Lady Red Raiders from Ocean City hosting the Lady Eagles from West Deptford. Both teams knew they had to win or they would be eliminated in the first round. The first half of this game was very physical with each team trying to set the tempo looking for that elusive goal. West Deptford would get credit for the only goal recorded when the ball apparently crossed the line right as the goalkeeper picked up the ball. West Deptford (10-1-0) would move on to the second round of tournament.
Ocean City (6-3-1) played well in the first half matching the Lady Eagles intensity moving the ball down field. That's when the defense would pick up. Keeper Kristina Kuda would record the save for West Deptford keeping the Red Raiders off the scoreboard. Ocean City's defense was strong, as Kristen Gray would also keep this game scoreless in the first half of this game.
In the second half with both teams struggling to gain position, West Deptford put on a good surge and pressured the defense setting up an attempt to score. When the ball was bouncing around in front of the net, Ashley Antzcak's shot looked like it didn't cross the goal line from middle field. But the official had a better angle to view the shot and called it a goal. "I didn't think the shot went in", mentioned Gray after the game. Ocean City picked up the pace as time was running out, but their attempts to tie this game was turned away.
