Every year, teams are trying to improve and build on their accomplishments from the previous season. For Moorestown, that improvement would include a trip to the playoffs and a home game played in front of their hometown fans. The sixth seeded Quakers were the second game of the night as the girl’s basketball team would advance to the next round. The boys would be next as they were competing against the eleventh seeded Dragons from Kingsway. The Dragons would use the third quarter to make this South Jersey Group III first round game very interesting. But the Quakers would be able to keep the winning tradition on this night and advanced to the next round with their 48-41 victory.
Kingsway would have their troubles scoring during the first quarter as they would score just six points. Trailing by nine points to start the second quarter, it would be the Quakers who would struggle allowing the Dragons to cut into their deficit. Leading 22-18 to start the second half, Moorestown would be able to maintain their lead through out the third quarter. And it would be the final quarter that Kingsway would take their first lead of the game. Leading 38-35, Moorestown would go on a 13-3 run to finish out the Dragons. Pawel Buczak led all scorers with 20 points while Matt Bronczyk dropped in 17 points for Moorestown. The Dragons would receive 14 points from D.J. Billups, Eric Sisco chipped in 13 and Anthony Talley finished the game with 12 points.
