During the first round of the playoffs, teams are rewarded a seeding which allows the highest seed to host a game. Both basketball programs at Moorestown qualified for the group tournament and both were hosting their first round games. First up were the seventh seeded Lady Quakers taking on the Spartans from Deptford who were the tenth seed. Kara Burnham had a strong performance at both ends of the court helping Moorestown control this game down the stretch. The Quakers would move onto the next round of the South Jersey Group III tournament with their 54-40 victory. With the win, Moorestown will travel to Ocean City and take on the second seeded Red Raiders.
Moorestown's quick start allowed them to open up a lead they would be able to maintain through the entire first half. With their 25-19 lead at the start of the second half, Moorestown would watch the Spartans begin to rally to put within four points. But from that point on, the Quakers began to pull away from Deptford. Starting the final quarter with a 39-32 lead, Moorestown would outscore the Spartans by seven points and the Lady Quakers would enjoy their playoff win. Kara Burnham finished with a game high 26 points while Alex O'Brien (11 points) and Julie McGrory (10 points) also finished the game scoring in double figures. Deptford's Kristina Cox and Miranda Paynter both finished the game with 16 points apiece.
