Colin Higgins allowed just one goal and Kevin Schaffer scored late in the third period as Moorestown upset Washington Township 2-1 in Tier 1 action at Hollydell. With the loss Township must beat Eastern on Monday night, the last game of the season in order to finish in second place. However, tonight the story was Higgins as he kept Township off the board until the third period. Moorestown scored first as Schaffer won the face-off and fed the puck back to T.J. Hooper at the point; his shot was deflected by Mike Bodine midway through the first period.
After a scoreless second period which Higgins made several key saves, Township tied the game at 1-1 as Marco Jordan hit Dave Smetaniuk and his backhander found the net. Then with about three minutes left in the game, Bodine broke in alone and after Derek Anderson made the save, Schaffer was there to put home the rebound. Township pulled Anderson for an extra skater in the final minute but could not get one by Higgins.
