After each game is played, the coaching staff is responsible for reviewing the good and the bad plays in order to improve on areas that need to be addressed. The Indians from Pennsauken would get their chance against Lenape in order to continue to keep their undefeated record in tact. The coaching staff of Pennsauken would be proud as their running and passing game was able to produce points on the scoreboard. Wendell Johnson scored two rushing touchdowns and quarterback Keith Jones threw for two scores and Pennsauken would pick up their third win in a row with their 33-7 victory Friday night at Lenape.
Lenape was fresh off their shutout victory over Rancocas Valley and were looking to upset Pennsauken on their own field in the battle of the Indians. The way this game started off, it appeared as if Pennsauken would have to earn this victory instead of Lenape giving it to them. With a scoreless first quarter, Pennsauken would jump ahead 8-0 after Johnson broke through Lenape’s defense for a 20-yard touchdown run. Jones’ 27-yard touchdown pass to Arnold Valentine later pushed Pennsauken’s lead to 14-0. Lenape would respond right before the half trimming their deficit to 14-7 when Tom Doulong capped off their scoring drive with a 1-yard run.
The second half belonged to the defense of Pennsauken as they were able to shut down their opponents’ offense. Pennsauken would build on their lead during the third quarter when Malik Jamison caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from Jones and now Pennsauken was ahead 21-7. The last two scores of the day was an 8-yard run by Nate Tucker and Johnson scoring his second of the day with a 33-yard touchdown run.
