Lenape knew the history they have against the Minutemaids from Washington Township. For the past two seasons, Lenape has come close but could not find a way to come away with the victory. When these two Olympic Conference opponents met for the first time, it looked as if Lenape might end their regular season losing streak against Township. Both teams were even at two runs apiece after seven full innings which sent this American Division game into extra innings. During the top of the ninth inning Sarah Carangelo singled home the winning run for Washington Township. The Minutemaids would walk away with a 6-2 road victory.
Washington Township scored the first run of the game during their top half of the third inning. They would add an extra run in the fifth and that two run lead would hold up until the Indians last at bat during regulation. Lenape would rally and score on a ground ball error to send this game into extra innings. Still on the mound was starting pitcher Melanie Helterbran who only allowed four hits and strike out ten batters. The Minutemaids would take a one run lead on Carangelo’s single, but they were not done. With the bases loaded, Kelly Mihalic’s bases clearing triple padded Township margin of victory.
