The Lenape Girls Lacrosse team opened their 2002 Season at home versus Rancocas Valley, with both teams enjoying the early start as a result of being on Spring Break. The Lady Red Devils were looking to bounce back after losing their first game 20-9 versus Camden Catholic on Monday. It was a warm and windy day, but the breeze felt on the sidelines seemed to be more from the speed of the Lady Indians as they proceeded to run over Rancocas Valley 14-7.
Rancocas Valley drew first blood at 23:18 when Carly Regn ran the field and scored unassisted. Possession shifted several times over the next two minutes, then Lenape shifted into a higher gear when Lauren Pfeifer scored at 21:08 on an assist from Megan Ziegenfuse. The Lady Indians then proceeded to run off 11 straight goals before RV's Mary Oschell broke the pattern by scoring with 1:20 left in the half. When Ziegenfuse scored her third goal of the game a minute later, it made the halftime totals 12-2.
In the second half Lenape played a less agressive slower game, and RV was never able to catch up. On this day Lenape's ability to run the field clearly made the difference.
