High School Ice Hockey: Friday, November 12, 1999
By Mike Costantino Kevin Desrochers scored four goals and David Ash added two as Cherry Hill East defeated Kingsway 8-3 in a SJHSIHL game played at Hollydell. Neither team generated much offense in the first eight minutes of the game until Nick Giambanis, with just less than six minutes left, put East on the board. Vince Galasso and Jaret Wallace got the assists on the goal. Kingsway would tie the game at 1-1 when Brian Byrwa converted on a 3-on-1. The second period began with Galasso scoring on the power play to give East the lead for good at 2-1. Then over the next five minutes, East would explode for five goals to silence Kingsway, led by Desrochers and Ash as they took turns scoring goals. First Desrochers gave East a 3-1 lead and about a minute later, Ash made it 4-1. Not to be outdone, Desrochers scored on his next shift to make it 5-1. Thirty seconds later Ash tallied and it was 6-1. Cherry Hill East would then have two power plays. Desrochers score on both of them sandwiched around a goal by Kingsway's Stukes, and we headed in to the third period with an 8-2 lead. A late goal by Sleigus made the final 8-3.
