Rich Dorr and Rob Cross scored two goals, Nick Megara added a goal and two assists to help Highland skate pass St. John Neumann 5-3 in Tier 2 action at Hollydell on Friday night. Highland took control early as Dorr scored just twenty-six seconds into the game. Megara made it 2-0 at the fifty-three second mark as Highland seemed a step quicker than the Pirates.
Highland kept the pressure on and with Neumann short-handed, Dorr went coast-to coast and his power play goal gave Highland a 3-0 lead heading into the second period. Neumann started the second period and played a more physical game, which created some opportunities, there best coming on the power play. Highland's Rob Cross squashed any momentum when he scored short-handed and after two periods Highland was in control at 4-0.
Neumann struck early in the third as Baldwin cut the lead to 4-1. When Nick Miraglia converted on a 2-on-1, Neumann was back in the game at 4-2 with just under ten minutes remaining. Highland answered back on the power play as Cross converted a Megara feed with just over five minutes to go and the lead was back to 5-2. A late goal by Ron Tini closed out the scoring as Highland held on for the 5-3 win.
