The Lady Blue Devils from Hammonton had another opportunity to pick up another win this season during the girls' basketball Ventnor City Shootout held at the Ventnor Education and Community Complex. Their opponent, the Rams from Gloucester Catholic, had the task of trying to contain Katie Piekielski who had the ability to gain position inside for the easy basket. Hammonton would control the game by staying one step ahead of the Rams at both ends of the court. The Blue Devils would roll onto their 39-29 victory and pick up their thirteenth win of the season.
During the first quarter of this game, both teams struggled to put points on the board and the team that limited their opponent's scoring chances would gain the clear advantage. Leading by only two points, Hammonton began to put most of their points on the scoreboard from the free throw line. The Blue Devils would lead by six points at the break and expand that lead to 28-17 at the start of the final quarter. Gloucester Catholic would outscore the Blue Devils during those final minutes, but Hammonton would stay within range to pick up the victory. Katie Piekielski would lead all scorers with 14 points while Elyse Standen added 12 points for the Blue Devils. Liz Plum led Gloucester Catholic in scoring with 12 points.
