When the first time Haddon Heights and Haddon Township met a month ago in a Colonial Conference girls' basketball game, the Lady Hawks got off to a very slow start and were unable to recover from that deficit. This time on their home court, Haddon Township jumped out to a two point lead at halftime over the conference leading Lady Garnets from Haddon Heights. The Garnets' defensive pressure took over during the second half to take control of this game. Haddon Heights would extend their winning streak to eight games with their 45-31 victory over the Hawks.
Both of these teams have locked down a position in the upcoming group tournament. Haddon Heights have been awarded the top seed in the girl's Group 2 bracket and the Hawks are the eight seed. There's a good chance that these two teams will meet again during the second round of the tournament. In today's game, Haddon Township trailed by a point at the start of the second quarter but was successful at continuing to put points on the scoreboard. The last time these two teams met, the Hawks only managed to score a total of just six first half points. Haddon Township would lead by a 25-23 margin only to fall victim of Heights' defense during the second half. The Garnets would outscore their opponent 22-6 to pick up the road victory. Samantha Carter led the Garnets in scoring with 14 points and Casey Orlando dropped in 11 points for Haddon Heights. Colleen Greway and Chrissy Barnett both finished the game with 11 points for Haddon Township.
