The Lady Bulldogs from Haddonfield traveled to Haddon Heights to start off the new softball season. Both of these teams were looking to begin their season by playing fundamental softball in order to come away with the win. This game started out to be a pitcher's duel forcing the batters to do whatever it takes to get the bat on the ball and making something happen in the field. The Garnets finally broke the scoreless tie late in the game and took a two run lead up until the final innings. Bobbie Padgett pitched a complete game for Haddon Heights and the Lady Garnets picked up the 2-1 victory during their home opener.
Both teams started out slow and were trying their best in getting into the rhythm of the game. Players were doing whatever it takes in getting on base. Through the first four innings, every player that reached on base would not result in the game’s first run. That wasn’t until the bottom of the fifth inning when the Garnets scored twice on some well timely hits by Rebecca Stackhouse and Michelle Dzurenda. Padgett would continue to keep Haddonfield off the scoreboard up until a pass ball allowed the Bulldogs to score their only run of the game.
