The Colonial Conference is still up for grabs meaning that every game is extremely important as the regular season winds down. Haddon Heights were amongst the leaders of the conference battling it out with Haddonfield, Sterling, Haddon Township and Collingswood all with a legitimate chance of finishing in first place. Every conference game was important and on this night, the Lady Garnets were playing host to the Green Wave from Audubon. The first quarter found Audubon keeping the game close after the first quarter ended, but the middle two quarters proved to be the difference. Haddon Heights would outscore their opponent 26-9 during those quarters and pull away for the 43-29 victory.
The Garnets would be in a virtual tie with Haddonfield in the standings and with just about two weeks remaining, the conference would still be up for grabs. The two leadings met twice already during the season as the home team came away with the victory. So when a conference game is on the schedule, it’s sometimes bigger than the opponent they are playing. Audubon had played Haddonfield pretty close last month losing by four points. Haddon Heights would take Audubon lightly in this game and began to pull away from the Wave at the half. Leading 26-12 to start the second half, the Garnets would be able to stay one step ahead of Audubon to pick up the victory. Meredith Kennedy (13 points) and Joslyn Eppright (10 points) led Haddon Heights in scoring while Mesha Hickman (8 points) was the high scorer for Audubon.
