The thirst of soccer action can finally be satisfied with the start of the high school fall sports. Ready to get their season underway and start another run at the Colonial Conference Patriot Division title, the Garnets wasted little time deciding the outcome of their home game against divisional foe Paulsboro. From the opening possession, Heights’ Lou Dollarton found the open net just 30 seconds into the game and the Garnets were on their way to a 6-1 victory. Dollarton scored twice in the first half of this game.
Haddon Heights set the tempo by continuous pressure on the Red Raiders defenders. Once past the initial defense, goalkeeper Mike Hall was the only person standing in the way. Hall would come up with some key saves, but the Haddon Heights attackers were determined to score the goal. Will Honey, Jeff Kirk, Sean Babcock, Steve Briggs and Dollarton’s two goals in the first half was all they needed to push their record to 3-0. Paulsboro would get a lone goal by Curt Costenburlen right before the half ended.
