The Colonial Conference has been arguably one of the toughest to compete in for high school baseball. Each one of the eleven teams has had a taste of being one of the leaders of the conference during their years in competition. This year, four teams are looking to separate themselves from the rest of the pack. Two of those teams met today at Haddonfield High School as the Bulldogs were hosting the Eagles from West Deptford. Haddonfield would be able to manufacture more runs that West Deptford and come away with the 6-4 win at home.
Four teams have gotten off to a good start this season from the Colonial Conference. The Sterling Silver Knights has established themselves as the early leader just a few games ahead of Haddonfield and West Deptford (8-3). Collingswood has come away with some tough losses but remain above five hundred baseball and looking for a position in the post season. The Bulldogs were successful against Sterling in their first meeting winning by three runs. On the other hand, West Deptford came up three runs short against Sterling.
With the game tied at three apiece through four full innings, Haddonfield would score one run in the fifth to pull ahead. Two more runs would score in the sixth when Dave Caulk’s two run base hit score two giving the Bulldogs a 6-3 lead. Those runs would prove important as West Deptford threatened in the seventh but would come up short. Andy Console picked up the win for Haddonfield (8-1) while Scott Rollins suffered the loss for West Deptford.
