The Rams from Gloucester Catholic have for years established themselves as arguably the best baseball program in South Jersey. This year they were yet again off to a good starting in defending their Tri-County Classic Division Title. Gloucester Catholic put together a 10 run third inning to highlight their victory over their cross-city opponents Gloucester City. The Lions late rally wasn't enough to get by Gloucester Catholic as the Rams defeated Gloucester City by a 13-7 margin.
Gloucester Catholic jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second for starting pitcher Bill Demarco. The Lions tied the score in the top of the third, but in the bottom of the inning the Rams went to work with their bats. The hits just kept coming for Gloucester Catholic as they exploded for ten runs in the inning. The Rams were leading 11-1 after that inning, but the Gloucester City did not just give up.
Now behind ten runs and facing the possibility of this game ending early, the Lions finally put their hits together and scored 6 runs to make this game interesting. Now only trailing by the score of 11-7, Gloucester Catholic responded in the bottom of the inning with two more runs to give the Rams the victory.
